Photography Presentation

Mr. Giannelli is a parent and professional photographer who specializes in interior photos. Students in Ms. MacDonald's class enjoyed a wonderful presentation that showcased the ability to turn a creative passion into a career. Mr. Giannelli shared interesting information on lighting and composition and students were engaged throughout. It was a wonderful experience, and we are so thankful for the time he shared!

Buddy Activity

On Monday, students worked with buddy their classes to make Generosity Gingerbread. Students explored the many ways both big and small that we can practice generosity. At South Elementary we understand that we can give to others all year round, not just during the holidays.

Gingerbread House Workshop

On Friday, December 19, South Hunterdon Preschool welcomed families into the classroom for a Gingerbread House Workshop, an event designed to strengthen home–school connections and foster a strong learning community for our youngest learners. This workshop marked the preschool program’s second family engagement event of the school year, continuing a meaningful tradition of inviting parents to be active participants in their child’s educational experience.

The Gingerbread House Workshop followed the success of November’s Turkey Trouble event, which also brought families together for a memorable and engaging classroom experience. These events reflect South Hunterdon Preschool’s ongoing commitment to building positive relationships between families, students, and staff.

A special thank you goes to our fourth-grade Peer Leaders, who worked alongside Ms. Rhodes to assemble 75 gingerbread house kits in preparation for the event. We would also like to recognize our dedicated preschool staff for continually opening their classrooms and creating welcoming, inclusive spaces for families. In addition, we extend our gratitude to our PTO for generously providing juice and cookies for everyone to enjoy.

Family engagement events like these highlight the exciting learning experiences taking place in our preschool classrooms and celebrate the strong sense of community that supports our youngest scholars every day.

District Parents: Let's Talk Tech

South Hunterdon parents are invited to attend “District Parents: Let’s Talk Tech,” a community event focused on the impact of technology and social media on our children and families.

On Tuesday, January 27th from 6:00 - 8:00 pm in the HS Auditorium, we will watch a video produced by Max Stossel from Social Awakening that illustrates specific ways technology (social media) is intentionally designed to be addictive and distracting. The presentation also highlights how these design features affect our children’s developing brains and offers practical recommendations for addressing the challenges families are facing.

Following the video, we will hold a community discussion to share perspectives and talk openly about what is working and what is not working in our households when it comes to technology use.

To help us plan accordingly, please click the QR code or follow this link to register so we can have a better estimate of the number of attendees. This event is sponsored by the South Hunterdon Regional School District in partnership with the District PTO.

We hope you will join us for this important and timely conversation.
