4th Grade Trip to Gravity Hill

The SHRES Fourth graders had an amazing time at Gravity Hill Farm! We became chefs in the kitchen as we made healthy snacks, learned about “Red, Yellow, and Green Light” foods and treats, and even talked about how to keep our bones strong. Out in the garden, we harvested peanuts and prepared some garden beds for the spring season and lastly, visited our favorite animal friends after a tractor ride through the Autumn trees. It was a fun-filled day of learning, tasting, and exploring the farm!

After-School Enrichment: Mindful Creations

The Mindful Creations program meets with Ms. LaBau and Ms. Weaver on Wednesdays from October 1st through December 3rd.

In this unique enrichment program, students in grades 1-4 explore the connection between creativity, nature, and mindfulness! Each week, children enjoy a mix of calming yoga practices, hands-on gardening activities, and creative expression through arts, crafts, and drawing. From planting seeds and sketching what they grow, to crafting nature-inspired projects and practicing relaxation techniques, students will build confidence, focus, and imagination. This well-rounded club encourages balance, curiosity, and creativity while fostering a deeper appreciation for the world around them.

Guest Reader

Our first parent involvement experience to enhance student learning was a huge success! Mrs. Rosso was our guest reader, and she read to the entire first grade.

Our Wit and Wisdom reading program Module 1 is A World of Books - How do books change lives around the world? Mrs. Rosso read Little Libraries, Big Heroes and shared how books can bring communities together through little free libraries. The children were so engaged and excited and participated in a great discussion about how there are little free libraries in Lambertville and all over the world. Special thanks to Mrs. Rosso for stopping by school and providing students with a unique learning experience!

Kindergarten's Apple Adventures!

Our Kindergarteners had an exciting time learning all about apples! On Friday, October 10, the classes visited Styer’s Orchard, where students explored the life cycle of an apple, enjoyed a wagon ride, and picked their own apples, pumpkins, and gourds. The following Friday, we celebrated “Apple Day” by wearing red and making homemade applesauce right in our classrooms—a delicious treat to enjoy in the afternoon! These activities tied perfectly into our science units on plant needs, living things, and life cycles, giving students a fun, hands-on learning experience they’ll remember.
