Girls on the Run

The South Hunterdon Girls on the Run Team had students in grades 3-5 from both the South Hunterdon Regional Elementary School and the Middle School on Location. Our coaching staff was four teachers throughout the district - Taylor LaBau, Lynnsley Jameson, Amanda McPherson and Victoria Marley. We held practices at the MSOL weekly.

Girls on the Run inspires individuals of all abilities to discover, build, and grow their self-confidence. Together, they experience a sense of belonging and connection as a team. Volunteer coaches facilitate lessons that blend physical activity with life skill development, including managing emotions, fostering friendships, and expressing empathy. At the end of the season, the team completes a Community Impact Project and a 5K together, which provides a tangible sense of accomplishment and sets a confident mindset into motion.

We held our practice 5k on the track at South on May 27th where the girls, their families, teachers and administration came out to participate on the track. Our 5k was at Mercer County Community College on Sunday June 1st. One of our girls, Nazareth, was chosen to sing the National Anthem.

First Grade Mouse Houses

First graders have an annual tradition of making mouse houses out of shoeboxes and reused materials. Students are encouraged to be creative and imaginative, as well as, collaborate and share with their classmates. Students are given a pretend stuffed mouse and piece of play cheese.  They can also be creative and write "Mouse Tales."

2024-2025 Safety Patrol Member Quotes

Luisa said, “As a safety, I had a lot of fun. I especially enjoyed taking the leadership of younger kids. I also like being a role model for younger students. I have seen smiles on every student I have helped. Those are some reasons I like being a safety.”

Michelle said, ”The most memorable part of being a safety was helping other families and translating for Back to School night and showing parents the way to the new building.”

Henry wrote, ”My favorite memory as a safety was at back to school night. I loved showing all the parents to their kids' classroom. I also enjoyed being Ziggy the school mascot. I am so excited for third graders to have as much fun as I did being a safety next school year.”

A note from Mrs Andraos: It has been a pleasure working with talented and extremely responsible safeties this year. Your leadership and kindness to one another is commendable. You will be greatly missed - all the best in Middle School!
